Screen Size
This site is optimized for 1280x1024 or better. If you see the entire rectangle below as a smooth transition from black to white, then your screen size is fine.
Brightness and Contrast
There are 21 brightness levels in the image below: from 0=black to 255=bright white. You
should be able to distinguish each of the 21 shades of black, gray and white. The transitions
should be smooth, but there should be a noticable brightness difference for each level.
Gamma
There are 8 gamma patterns in the image below. Most monitors are calibrated for a gamma
of between 1.8 (apple) and 2.0 (rest of world). When the light-colored horizontal bands appear
to blend, that is your gamma value.
